Here is a simple definition: a Widget is a small piece of computer code that can be inserted into a web page. This code performs a certain function or leads to a larger application.

However, lets not forget about the design aspects of the themes. Not only do premium ones come with more features, but they also pack a powerful design punch. Many of the designs would typically cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. By purchasing a theme, you get all of these benefits for less than 100 bucks!
 

 

WordPress.org allows you to download Generatepress and install their software and run it on your own server. This in turn allows you to run any themes, plugins, and widgets you want.

Once WordPress is set up, it's really easy to add new posts and new pages, and to update generatepress premium them. It's easy to add images and videos to your blog posts and pages. If you have ever used Word for Windows (or something similar), you will be able to make a nice looking post on WordPress.

What can you customise? The short answer is "everything". I usually work from the top down. You can design your own header graphic and upload one or more - the Atahualpa theme has a built-in header rotating function if you want to use it. You can have an area above the header graphic (or below it) for your company logo, RSS and comments feed and a search box. You can style this area to blend into the outer background or you can give it a style of its own and make it stand out.

 

 

Click on the orange box and your web browser should open up the RSS feed of your blog. The text displayed may look like gobbledegook, but don't worry about that. The search engines can interpret what's written for the RSS feed.

You also have access to a good support forum with senior moderators who know A LOT about WordPress themes and StudioPress themes specifically. They answer questions generally within 24 hours.
